Book Lovers Tag!

Howdy, y'all!

I know, I've kind of disappeared for the month of August...but I'm back (with a tag)! ;p

Faith P. was awesome enough to tag me in the Book Lovers tag! Thanks, girl!

The Rules
1. Answer the questions
2. Have fun!
3. Tag some book loving bloggers

Annnd, the questions!!

1. If you could rewrite the end of a book, which one would it be?

Well, I would say I want to rewrite a lot books and not kill some of my favorite charries, but (*cringes*) I will admit the story wouldn't be the same without the death, y'know? It usually plays a big part in the book, so...
Honestly, I can't really think of any endings I would really change. Maybe bits and pieces of different stories to more fit the type of reading I enjoy.

2. Which fictional character are you most like?
Hm...I guess I relate to Andi Carter from the Circle C books in some ways--not wanting to have to be ladylike all the time (I was/am a tomboy), wanting to play with animals and climb trees rather than dressing up or shopping, etc.

3. Do you have any signed books?
Yes! Miss Nancy Rue (a friend of my sister's and an amazing author) was kind enough to send me one of her whole series, with each book signed! (Plus she signed another book of hers that I own. :D)
Faith Potts also sent me a signed copy of her book, Dandelion Dust.

4. What's the best book that you've read this year so far?
Ooh, that's a hard one! I definitely enjoyed Dandelion Dust (mentioned above). The Warrior's Seal and Trinity (both by Ronie Kendig) were really good, too!! Courageous Love, the final book in the Circle C Milestones series, was completely awesome! (My favorite of all the Circle C books.) :)
So as you can see...I read A LOT of good books this year!

5. Do you have any bookish pet peeves?
Oh, yes.

- Girls in romance novels (most of them, anyway). I'm sorry. I just...ARGH! Quite a few books I've read (including several recent reads) have had some of the most annoying, spoiled, only-care-about-the-guy chicks. It bothers me. So. Much.
I was never a huge fan of romance stories, but there are definitely some I enjoy. A lot of times, sadly, the main girl ruins the book for me. They have to be really well written for me to like them. *rant over* XD

- When the book cover is bent/torn, etc. (The worst part about library books XD)

- Also, grammar mistakes. Like, GRRR! *screams* THIS WAS EDITED, WASN'T IT??? #GrammarNazi #Perfectionist #TheBadThingAboutMostSelfPublishedBooks #ButLegitBooksDoItToo

6. Out of the books you've read so far this year, what has had your favorite cover?
That's a hard one!

Ronie Kendig - The Warrior's Seal / #awordfromJoJo #CleanRomance #ChristianFiction #RonieKendig
This one. :)

Ronie Kendig - Trinity / #awordfromJoJo #ChristianFiction
DOGGIE! (Of course I love this one XD)

These two are some of my faves, too!!!

Ahem. We'll pretend that was one.

7. Is there a book that releases this year that you cannot wait to read?

Not that I can really think of. A Question of Courage is (if I remember right) releasing this year, but I already read it, sooo... I still can't wait for it to release. ;)

8. What is your favorite nonfiction book?
The Bible, for sure! B-) Other than that, I enjoy books on American history and biographies of our founding fathers. :)

9. Do you have a favorite location and/or time period to have a book set in?
I love the Old West! Westerns are some of my favorites!! Modern-day books are good, too, and I absolutely love military-based stories. *hugs them all*

10. Is there a book that reminds you of something else? (Movies, life, etc...)

Eh, I mean books I've read that have been turned into movies or vice versa (obviously).
My mind seems to go blank on these sorts of questions. XD

And that's it for questions!

In turn, I tag anyone who follows my blog!

Comment below and let me know if you do the tag so I can read the post!!! :D

August!!! + July Highlights

As of right now (3:30-ish CT), Christmas is in 20 weeks, 139 days, 8 hours, and 22 minutes!!

(That's 3,345 hours, over 200,000 minutes, and 12 million+ seconds!!! SO CLOSE, right?!?) XD

Let's dive right into this post! ;)

July Highlights:

  • Went on a super fun weekend trip to Dallas with my sister! She is working as a rep for an ninja warrior competition league, so we went up there for the comp, got to hang out with a bunch of ninja fam we hadn't seen in a while, and meet even more awesome people!
  • Spent a fun day with my bestie and our sisters. :)
  • Had a mini photo shoot with my sister.
  • Made it past Cow Appreciation Day (ended up working two shifts XD).
  • Started school (not completely sure if I should include this in highlights, but IT'S MY SENIOR YEAR AND AHHHH...pray for me XD).
  • Celebrated my parents' 31st anniversary <3 I MADE A CAKE GUYS XD

Okay, so honestly life was crazy this July...I was sick for the first week of the month, and then it just seemed like there was always something we were doing. I was supposed to start school at the beginning of the month, but we ended up deciding to push it back a little because of busyness at work and being short staffed. Plus, our upstairs floors were being redone thought the last half of the month and into August, so everything has just been a big mess upstairs...So yep.

The last week of July probably was one of the worst I've had in a while due to a bunch of little things all kind of learning to rely on God is something that's been big, too. :)

Sooo, I wrote a whole lot more than I thought I would in July. Like, yeah.
I've been lame and started losing track of the amount of words I write, but I can guarantee I wrote at least 10k this past month (most of it in one project!). I'm superrrrr excited about that!!
My problem is too many little ideas from Pinterest that distract me too easily... XD

I did find time to read a couple of books this month, and they were pretty good!
  • A Breed Apart series, books one and two.

  • Hero - Sterling Knight
  • Down to the River to Pray - Alison Krauss
  • The Gospel - Ryan Stevenson
  • Should've Been Me - Citizen Way

Verse of the Month:

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
Isaiah 55:8 (NIV)

July Goals:
  • Write at least 2,500 words. (I'm dropping this down a bit because I'm starting school this month and not sure if I'll have much time aside to write...hopefully I can still beat this goal, though! YESSS! I'm really proud of myself...ended up writing 10k+ words this past month!!
  • Start my senior year of school! (pray for me, y'all XD) Yup...keep prayin', y'all. XD
  • Get moved into my new/own room! (Two sisters moved out, so for the first time in my life, I'll be getting my own room! Just have to repaint it!) Well, this didn't happen until yesterday (August 6), but since it happened before this post, we'll count it, okay??
  • Celebrate the Fourth of July! (Shouldn't be too's one of my favorite holidays!!) Sadly, this didn't go quite as planned...I ended up sick with some sort of cold/flu virus and was miserable the whole day... :/ I DID, however, make it outside that evening to blow up stuff! XD
  • Continue reading the Bible every day. Check!!

August Goals:

  • Write at least 3,000 words (at least half of that in main project).
  • Start ballroom dancing lessons (I'm super excited about this)!
  • Get everything sorted out with the bedrooms (set up my room, do the floors in my sister's room, etc.).
  • Celebrate my golden birthday!!! (17 on the 17th!)
  • Continue reading the Bible every day.

How was everyone's July? For those who participated in Camp NaNo, how did that go? Who's ready to get back into school?
