NaNo, News, and More!

Again, sorry I haven't kept up with posting much lately. I've been busy working and doing school... And, of course, writing for NaNo!! :D

I made it to 17,000 words yesterday, which I'm really excited about! I know I'm not on track to hit 50,000 words, but I'll beat my own personal score for how many words I've written in a month.

I wrapped up one of my short stories the other day (it will need a lot of editing, lol), and nearing the end of another. I had a new, random idea a couple of weeks ago (before NaNo started) for several scenes for a story, but I figured I'd work on my other already-planned stories for several reasons, one of them being that I had no idea what else would happen in this story besides the scenes I had in my head.
Well, I was telling my sister about it the other day, and (after a lot of nonsensical ideas and laughs), we came up with a basic idea for the story. So, since I was kind of in a lull with my other two short stories at that point, I put them aside for a day and worked solely on this new one. I'm having a lot of fun with it now, and even though it's mostly just for my entertainment, it's getting words down and I'm having a lot of fun working on it.

Here's a couple of pictures that started the inspiration for this story:

Blue and Jase - Brothers:
(My favorite relationship to write/read about :D)

Jase Harper:

Jonathan "Blue" Harper:

How is writing going for everyone else (whether or not you're doing NaNo)?

Also, I forgot to post anything on here, but this past week we celebrated Veterans Day. A huge thank you is in order for anyone who has served or is currently serving in our military. We appreciate you!! (And also to my grandfather (who spent 21 years serving), step-grandfather, great-grandfathers, cousin (who was injured serving and received the Purple Heart), second cousin, and many more family members and friends, THANK YOU! :D)

I'm looking for new books to read (or ask for for Christmas, y'know ;P)! Any suggestions? (I enjoy historical fiction, westerns, soldiers, mysteries, and adventures, especially between siblings or best friends. I'm not so much of a romance person but don't mind some!)

Yippee!! Thanksgiving is only about a week away, and Christmas is in only 38 days! How on earth did this year go by so fast?? The reality that 2017 is less than two months away is kinda scary! Wow. That just sunk in...

All righty, heading off for now! I'm going to try to post a book review or find a fun tag or something to do soon! :D

Have a wonderful rest of the week! God bless!

Election Day!

Hey everybody! (Meant to get this posted earlier, whoops!!)

Sorry for my absence lately... I meant to post something sooner, but unfortunately I caught the stomach bug that has been going around like crazy and was sick from Saturday night until yesterday (still a little queasy but thankfully not as bad as the other night)! It was not fun, and I got behind on NaNo... But I have written about 8,600 to date and I'm really excited, because although I probably won't make the 50,000 goal, and maybe not even 30,000 words, I've already nearly written more this month than I have the past two months combined, so that counts for something, right?

Anyway, on to my post for today. As I'm sure most of you already know, today is Election Day.

Today, November 8, 2016, is the day we will choose our president for the next four years (among other positions that will be just as important).

So many people are divided over which candidate will get their vote. At this point, I honestly feel as if it's voting for the lesser of two evils.

I could go into more detail, but I won't today.

I'm not old enough to vote in this election, but I urge those of you that are to [vote pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious liberty. Any candidate that doesn't support these things shouldn't get a Christian's vote.
Ask God to give you wisdom when you vote today. Also, study. Study the Bible and study the candidates policies. Most importantly, VOTE. Don't sit this one out. The Christian's voice should be heard every time the poll booths are open. God bless you, and God bless America!]
(Portion in brackets taken from part of my pastor's FB post earlier today. I agree wholeheartedly.)

Please vote! You do make a difference!

And remember, no matter the outcome, GOD IS IN CONTROL. If He doesn't want Hillary Clinton to win, she won't win. And if He doesn't want Donald Trump to win, he won't win. Maybe it's our nation's turn to be punished for the sins committed by the people. Our God is a just God, and He punishes those who do evil.
But He also forgives those who repent. Cry out to Him!!

At the end of the day, God is good, and He has a plan for our country and our lives. His will be done.

November - aka NaNoWrimo

Can y'all believe it's already November of 2016?? This year has just been flying by!

November means Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving means Christmas! Speaking of which, I really do need to start working on Christmas lists... 0.0
Anyway *clears throat*, as I was saying, November means the holiday season is just beginning, and I couldn't be more excited!
Wait, yes I can!
Because NaNoWrimo started TODAY!!!!!!!!!! *squeals*

I'm so terrified but at the same time overly excited and I just can't wait for all of the write-ins and word wars and all that fun stuff! Anyone else taking on NaNo who plans to unite with other writers for word sprints and motivating each other?
I've been writing nonstop for the past hour and a half (since I worked all day), and I'm hoping to get a little more done before dinner and all that. Who else has started writing??? (Random fact: I actually did make it past my 4,000 minimum word count goal for October and ended up with probably close to 5,500 words.) :D

In addition to NaNo, however, we all still have lives to live (we can't have a month dedicated to only writing, can we)?
So school, work, and extracurricular things might try to get in the way, but I'm determined to WRITE! ;P How about y'all? (Whether or not you're doing NaNo, who plans to write bunches this month? *raises hand*)

Speaking of extracurricular things, flag football season is ending this weekend, which is a little bittersweet. This season was a lot of fun; helping coach both of my brothers' teams. Made a lot of new friendships, and I would even say I gained a couple more 'little brothers'. ;)

Also, Louisiana has still not figured out that it's fall. The weather has been in the 80s again this week. How's the weather where you live?

Anyway, back to the subject of NaNo...

I'm thinking about posting weekly updates in regard to NaNo, but we'll see.
Anyone on the NaNo website who wants to can find me by the username OllieCollie. ;)

Don't have a lot of time tonight (obviously I need to be writing in my NaNo projects, right? ;P), so I should probably be going now!

How was everyone else's October? What are your plans for this month? Who else is excited for the holidays?? (THEY'RE SO CLOSE! :D)
